The Hepburn Palais was built in 1926 as a multi-purpose social hub - a common feature of regional Victoria - but with one big difference; it was built with what is still Australia's oldest sprung wooden dancefloor, specifically designed to reduce impact for dancers during the popular ballroom era of the 1920s to 1950s. One thing is for sure, they won't build another one like it again.
The Hepburn Palais is the perfect venue for hosting music events, speaking engagements, and public gatherings, with the main room providing a large, versatile indoor space in the heart of Hepburn. A space ideal for live performances, DJ events, small festivals, cultural events, and community gatherings. A space which can be customised to suit any event. A space with history, character, and personality.
The historic Hepburn Palais is proudly located on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung People (the Djaara) in the Wombat State Forest, and in the heart of Australia's natural springs hotspot. A township where the the colours of culture, nature, art, & history morph onto the one canvas, and create a stunning a picture.

Both the Band Room & The Piano Bar provide everything needed to run a successful event. With the capacity to accommodate professional staging setup, full audio-visual setup, a great bar, and lots of accomodation in easy walking distance, it offers both flexibility and a great atmosphere. As one of the regions stand out venues with a unique atmosphere, Hepburn Palais combines practical infrastructure with professional support, giving you confidence that your event will run smoothly from start to finish.
Layouts can be adjusted for standing audiences, mixed seating, or structured programming, breakout groups, as well as a catered dining layout.
